Through their parents' eyes

Through Our Parents' Eyes that examines and documents the history and culture of Southern Arizona via the internet through the display of images, text, audio and video.

Started in 1994 by current director Stuart Glogoff, the organization celebrates the heritage and charm of southwest Arizona.

The Web site really began to grow with the experimentation of digital images said Glogoff. This allowed for personal content to be digitized and viewed in multiple places. The technology conveniences have continued to this day. "People can view images without having to go anywhere," Glogoff said. "It is far more personal."

Today the Web site is up to date with the world of journalism. "We added a blog this past year," Glogoff said.

Through Our Parents' Eyes Web site includes an "Our Communities" section, "Research Materials" section, "Teaching Resources" section and "Regional Histories"

The "Our Communities"section of the Web site discusses the many different communities in Tucson and Southern Arizona including African Americans, Chinese Americans, Jewish Pioneers, Mexican Americans and American Indians.

Visitors to the "Research Materials" section of the Web site can find many digital versions of original documents found in Tucson area archives as well as electronic texts of printed histories and journal articles. There are also digital presentations of conferences. These provide unique resources to students and researchers examining the people of the Southwest and northwestern Mexico. Visitors can also find maps and links to other related Web sites.

Teachers can use the material found in the "Teaching Resources" section to assist them with their instruction in the classroom. This is made possible through the collaboration between the . They are currently developing quality resources to support curriculum in middle and high school while also providing assistance at the college level.

Through Our Parents' Eyes can be thought of as an online library about the history and heritage of Tucson, Southern Arizona and its people.

The Web site is a great resource for the Tucson community to view so that they can become more knowledgeable about the heritage of Tucson and its people.

Current projects for the Web site include helping Pima Community College integrate the Web site into their course instruction so that students have the opportunity to learn about and appreciate this heritage and these unique people.
