SLIDESHOW: Another day, a different mask
Since 1893, the Arizon State Musuem has been the oldest and largest anthropology museum in the Southwest. It is recognized worldwide for its extensive resources concerning the indigenous people from northern Mexico as well as the American Southwest.
The current exhibit in the musuem entitled, 'Masks of Mexico: Santos, Diablos y Mas' is a perfect example of these resources. Dating back to 3000 BC, the masks in the exhibit all tell a different part of the history of the indigenous tribes from Mexico.
Whether it be for a religious purpose, athletics or a simple celebration the masks have always been a tradition in Mexican culture.
To take a look at the masks yourself, check out the slideshow posted below. Or if time permits, visit the Arizona State Museum before the exhibit ends at the start of December.
