Four elements of art

Tucson is a melting pot of different arts and crafts movements. The border signifies the coming together of not only American and Mexican influences, but influences from all over the world.

Every story listed below visually explores a different art genre found in the Old Pueblo. But unlike the traditional elements fire, water, earth and wind, this list of elements is governed by the raw materials used.

Click on the different materials to find out more about the craft and the artist behind the element.

Glass
From shards to arts - the facets of fragile novelties

Clay
From start to finish - artisans make gray clay into colorful tiles.

Stone
From blank slate to color plate - every wall can get a new life as a mural.

Metal
From raw metal to steel appeal - more than just recycled junk.
