Posted by Allison M. Warren on October 08, 2007

Located off of Interstate 19, 40 miles south of Tucson, is Tumacacori Mission. It was commissioned by Father Kino in the mid-17th century. Today, it stands as a historical ruin and a reminder of the past.

On Oct. 21, Tubac Presidio State Historic Park will host "Anza Days." The event will include the celebration of the historic "Misa Mayor" or "High Mass" at Tumacacori Mission, which is completely sung by the priest and choir. Attendees are encouraged to come in historic costumes that represent what would have been worn to the mass in the 18th and 19th centuries.
