Finding inspiration in the desert is not a hard thing to do. Making skin care products from the desert is a little trickier.

Paula Morris has found this out through developing her own luxury organic skin care products called Sweet P’s. The line is inspired by the desert and features desert botanicals.

A retired teacher, she has overseen every aspect of launching the brand. From product testing on herself, to achieving notoriety among beauty bloggers, to bottling and labeling products, and even harvesting her own prickly pear cacti.

The business began over eight years ago when Morris retired from her teaching career, which spanned 29 years. With a Master of Science degree in physical education, Morris had coached high school track and cross country, as well as men's water polo, tennis, and swimming at the University of Arizona.

“My life was spent in the sun. I taught physical education, I coached track and cross country and so I ran all over the base of this valley,” Morris said.

She parlayed that time in the sun into a full blown organic skin care line featuring all the best parts of the desert. Her products seem to cover nearly all the bases of skin care. Sweet P’s offers over 50 items ranging from the basics, to spa products, sunscreen, men’s products, baby and post natal care, and home cleaning products. All of the items can be custom-made to your favorite scent or one of the scents Morris has developed herself, like Desert Rain.

“I take a very conscientious effort to try to please my clients,” Morris said. “I want to make sure I’m satisfying the needs the person has and the wants.”

Sweet P’s can be found at the Tanque Verde Ranch and Loews Ventana Canyon Resort where the line is used in the spas and sold as well. Appointments can be made to visit the Sweet P's studio.
