Spanish Heritage Learner Program Enhances UA Education

The University of Arizona Spanish heritage learners program was created over 40 years ago to help cater the needs of students who have been exposed to Spanish in various ways. Whether their experiences have been in a community, within their family or a work setting, professors in the Spanish and Portuguese department strive to ensure these students are learning the vital skills and rules of the language. Many heritage learner students have a better understanding of how to speak the language, rather than how to write it. Each class is designed to use the knowledge students already have, while combining it with new, imperative information. This multimedia project focuses on the SHL program director, another professor as well as heritage students in and out of the classroom.
